Parishioners
Parishioners is the list of homebound people your volunteers may be asked to visit, including people waiting for Communion (the Eucharist) at home. Church Admin and Clergy can add and edit them. Saving a new person is what starts the notices described in Church settings. Editing someone who is already on the list updates the record and does not send that new-parishioner notice again.
Why the address and the preferred times matter
Volunteers are offered a new visit only when the record can be matched to them. Two fields on this page decide most of that match:
- Preferred visit times. Check every day and part of day that works: Sunday through Saturday, and Morning, Afternoon, or Evening. A volunteer is matched only when one of those boxes overlaps a time they marked as available in the mobile app. The day alone is not enough. Thursday morning does not match a volunteer who is free Thursday evening. If you leave every box empty, no volunteer is matched, even one who lives nearby. Church admins can still be told, when that role is checked in church settings.
- Address. Street, city, state, and ZIP are what you and the visitor read. Volunteer distance uses a map point. A typed address with no map point cannot be compared to a volunteer’s travel radius, so those volunteers are not notified. If you add people on this site and the address is typed by hand, confirm that the record has a map point before you expect volunteers to be offered the visit.
Those preferences also show on the Unassigned report, so you can see who still needs a volunteer and when they can be seen.
The other fields
- First and last name. This is the name in notices, reports, and the mobile app. Both are required to know who the visit is for.
- Phone and email. For the visitor and for your own follow-up. They are not used to decide who is notified.
- Notes. Anything the visitor should know before they go: door code, who to ask for, hearing, whether to call ahead. Notes are on the record. They are not a separate alert.
- Active. Shown when you edit someone already saved. Leave it checked while they should be visited. Clear it when they should leave the open-request list. An inactive person is not offered to volunteers as an open visit.
Find a record
Search by name, phone, or city. Open a row to edit that person. Choose Add parishioner for someone new.
People who live in a care facility, and who are visited as part of that building’s schedule, belong on the facility’s resident list. See Facilities. A person who is homebound in their own home belongs here.
